Robert (Pete) L. Housman

Robert L. (Pete) Housman, age 71, passed on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.

Pete was born on May 11, 1950 in Anna, Illinois, the son of Robert (Bob) and Virginia Housman and brother to Debra Rees, Cheryl Peckron, Kathryn Wood and Jon Housman 

Pete returned to Southern Illinois in 2008, following the death of his father, and was the primary caregiver of his mother until her death in October of 2021.

Pete was a man of many talents including, but not limited to, acting, singing, designing floral arrangements and much more. He was an active member of Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, Anna-Jonesboro Garden Club, Rotary Club, Union County Ministerial Alliance, Anna Arts Center, and many more clubs and organizations. He truly enjoyed giving back to and supporting his community.

Pete is survived by his sister Debra Kay Rees (Gary), sister Cheryl Ann Peckron (Jeff), sister Mary Kathryn Wood (Paul) and brother Jon Wayne Housman (Crystal). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and his beloved dog, Bonnie.

A life is not measured in days or months, or years or miles traveled or money earned or spent. It is measured by the hugs gotten and given, the hearts held, the lives touched and changed along the way. Pete Housman took a chance on loving every day of his life and the well-lit road he traveled led him home.  

A visitation for Robert (Pete) Housman will take place at Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church in Anna on Friday, May 13, 2022 from 5pm-7pm.

Memorials can be made to the Shawnee Hills Arts Council/Anna Arts Center, Anna-Jo Garden Club Community Beautification Fund or the Food Pantry Ministries at Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church, Salem Lutheran Church in Jonesboro or the United Methodist Church of Anna. 

Envelopes will be available at the church and at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home.
