Shirley J. (Treece) Spurlock, age 85 of Anna, went to be with the Lord on June 7, 2022. She was born December 3, 1936 in Union County, the daughter of Raymond and Eva (Winchester) Treece. She married Kenneth Spurlock on June 19, 1960 in Cobden. He preceded her in death on May 24, 2010.
Shirley is survived by her children, Alisa G. (David) Houseman of Anna, Kevin D. (Donna) Spurlock of Springfield, and Brenda C. Mayberry of Anna; grandchildren, James (Megan A.) Houseman, Michael (Megan D.) Houseman, and Steven (Sandra) Houseman, Sarah Mayberry, Jenna, Carly, & Jacob Spurlock; seven great-grandchildren, Alexis, Preston, Piper, Logan, Alyssa, Corbin, & Gavin Houseman; very special sisters, Lois Clutts and Joyce Miller; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Kenneth Spurlock.
Shirley was a charter member of the United Missionary Baptist Church in Lick Creek, where she served faithfully in many capacities. She was also a member of the Anna Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 522, where she had served as Worthy Matron Secretary, and other chairs. In addition, she enjoyed gardening, family genealogy, and traveling. She worked as a secretary for the soil and water conservation office in Anna.
Services will begin with last rites held by the Order of the Eastern Star at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022 at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. The funeral service will begin immediately following last rites with Pastor Mike Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Anna Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the service hour at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Missionary Baptist Church or Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter.
